GOD’S SOLUTION FOR AMERICA’S HURTING CHILDREN
The population of children in foster care in America that needs godly families continues to grow. When abortion is overturned, who will want all the babies? God’s heart longs for them, and He has the answers to make a way for them. While sharing personal experiences from her family’s adoption, Samantha presents a prayer strategy to marshal Heaven’s resources and encourage the American church to insert herself into the story of God’s waiting children. Sarah shares a powerful prayer manual that will catalyze the people of God to pray this assignment to completion!

WALK WITH ME
INTRODUCTION
At the age of sixteen, I became a foster mother to a toddler named Jason. Jason’s mother was living at a homeless shelter that my youth group volunteered for in inner city Houston, Texas. With eight children, including Jason, his mother was too ill and burdened to be able to properly care for him. As we were volunteering at the shelter each week, my heart became moved with compassion for Jason, and I knew I had to do something, anything, to help. I knew that even as a high school teenager I could make a difference in Jason’s life and be a help to his mother in some way. That heart tug eventually led to the idea of becoming a temporary foster mom. My parents and youth group leader did not want to dampen my enthusiasm for caring for the poor, so my mother agreed to care for little Jason while I was attending school and hostessing at a local restaurant after school. Their support provided me with opportunity, wisdom, and guidance on my journey toward learning to care for these little ones growing up in immense brokenness.
As long as I can remember, there has been a special place in my heart for children—especially abandoned, neglected, and disabled ones. Don’t be discouraged if you don’t think you have the same heart for children. My hope for this book is that it will provoke you toward taking the first step in caring for God’s children by being consistent in prayer. A simple prayer of obedience for a tender heart can have an enormous impact for generations to come. God says this about Abraham: “Through your descendants all the nations of the earth will be blessed—all because you have obeyed me” (Genesis 22:18, NLT). When we take a step of faith in obedience, no matter how small, blessing awaits.
One day recently as I was swimming laps at my fitness club, I pondered on the chapter titles of this book and the time it would take to write it. The Holy Spirit gently spoke to me and said, “This is their book.” And I agreed. They are the innocent unable to speak for themselves. They are why we write. This book is for them. I believe the Lord told us to prepare the way for them when He prophesied, “Build up, build up, prepare the road! Remove the obstacles out of the way of my people” (Isaiah 57:14).
With this being said, let us prepare the way for His children to come to Him. Let us partner with Him to remove the obstacles in their way. May our words and prayers here help cut a path through their lonely woods, set up stepping stones in the mire they find themselves in, and shine light into their darkness. May we grab hold of their hands and walk with them, that they might easily find the arms of Jesus.
Despite what we may hear in the news, I believe abortion is nearing its end in our nation, and the question is already resounding in the empty abortion clinics and in our churches: Who wants the children?
